About

The Historic Preservation & Design Review Board (HP&DRB) consists of five voting members and up to two advisory members. All are appointed by the Lakeside Association Board Chair and serve up to two three-year terms. All members are Lakesiders who volunteer for this responsibility on behalf of the community.

Advisory Member(s)

Homeowners must submit plans to the HP&DRB for any physical changes to ensure they are in keeping with Lakeside’s heritage and character. Reviews are required for all external changes, including porches, decks, gazebos, windows, roofing, siding, fences, sheds, driveways, ornamentation, major landscaping and removal of all or part of a building. Approval is not required for painting and routine repairs.

Applicant Information

The HP&DRB meets one Saturday each month. Application materials (see below) and the 2024 meeting schedule are available to download. Print copies are also available at the Lakeside Chautauqua Administration Office. After obtaining a HP&DRB Certificate of Appropriateness, the owner should apply for Danbury Township and Ottawa County permits.

Lakeside regulations for setbacks, lot coverage and other building requirements are contained in the Danbury Township L District zoning regulations. The Zoning Resolution, as well as contact information for the Danbury Zoning Inspector, can be viewed online at danburytownship.com. Copies can also be purchased from the Zoning Inspector for a nominal fee.

Allow additional time for construction in case the board or township requests changes. Questions may be directed to designreview@lakesideohio.com.
