In 1928, Lakeside established the first organized shuffleboard facility in Ohio. Since then, the sport has become a beloved pastime at Lakeside, and shuffleboard enthusiasts love to refer to it as Lakeside’s “Fifth Pillar.”
The Lakeside courts welcome more than 30,000 players each summer. The free use of the shuffleboard equipment and courts is included with the purchase of a Daily Chautauqua Pass.
Lakeside’s shuffleboard complex consists of 26 courts. Courts 1-10 are covered at the head of the courts and have high-mast lighting. Courts 11-18 are covered at the head and foot of the courts, have high-mast lighting and covered bleachers. Courts 11-18 are frequently used for cooler evening play as well as tournament finals. Courts 19-26 have covered bleachers for spectators, and both the head and foot of the courts are covered. It is a well-maintained facility unlike any other. The Shuffleboard Shack houses numerous cues and 56 sets of vintage Dimco shuffleboard discs.
The Lakeside Shuffleboard Club was established in 1966. The club strives to be the heart of the Lakeside Chautauqua shuffleboard community. Its mission is to passionately promote the game of shuffleboard across all ages through enjoyable games, competitive tournaments and social activities, fostering a welcoming community where everyone can connect and play.
Club members volunteer their time to assist with club, local, state and national tournaments. The club organizes Shuffle Mixers during the summer on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, where shuffleboard players, ages 16+, can participate in competitive games alongside many of Lakeside’s best shufflers. On Monday evenings, guests can play under the lights during Moonlight Madness. In August, the courts welcome the Sweetheart Doubles Tournament, the Add ‘Em Up Tournament and the Team Singles Tournament.
The Lakeside Shuffleboard Club belongs to the Ohio Shuffleboard Association. Dues for the summer are $10. Membership allows for participation in Ohio State Shuffleboard Association-sanctioned tournaments and national tournaments around the country.
During the summer, the Lakeside Chautauqua Shuffleboard Staff can be reached at (866) 952-5374, ext. 269.
*Club members are needed to assist with check-in, refereeing and scoring.
** Final matches for the Lary Faris National Open Singles and the Lary Faris National Junior Singles will be played at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 16, 2025
